Bethel Theological College (BTC) is a faith-based theological institution committed to the training, formation, and equipping of Christian leaders for effective ministry in church and society. Rooted in Scripture and informed by sound theological scholarship, BTC serves pastors, church leaders, and ministry workers within the United Apostolic Faith Church and the wider Christian community.
Bethel Theological College was established in 1967 under the name Bethel Bible College. During its early years, the college functioned within the historical realities of South Africa at the time, serving as a theological training institution primarily for white ministers.
Alongside Bethel Bible College, African pastors and church leaders were trained at United Bible College, which played a vital role in leadership formation within African congregations. Following the democratic transition in South Africa, these two streams of theological formation were brought together in the spirit of unity, reconciliation, and shared mission.
After 1994, Bethel Bible College and United Bible College were integrated, forming a unified institution committed to inclusive theological education in the new South Africa. This integration marked an important chapter in the college’s journey toward a shared vision of training leaders across cultural, racial, and social boundaries.
In 2024, the institution officially adopted the name Bethel Theological College, reflecting both its expanded theological scope and its renewed commitment to contextual, inclusive, and relevant ministerial formation.
